This blog saucily illustrates the hypocrisy of both left and right; Democrats and Republicans differ only in the special interests they represent, though both are toadies to Wall Street; Libertarians/Tea Party want the country to return to the 1800s when robber barons/oligarchs were free to have their way with us. All political parties have forgotten the middle class and the fact that our country reached the pinnacle of achievement only since WWII when the middle class first rose to prominence.

UPDATE: America's lost decade for jobs
The Wall Street Journal tends to favor Republicans, big business, tax cuts, and, of course, Wall Street. In its blog post of last year, Bush On Jobs: The Worst Track Record On Record, the WSJ noted that George W. Bush had the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records. Obama may yet break that record, but for now we can safely say that Bush's tax cuts had virtually no positive affect on jobs. Note that Carter, who the Fox News crowd attempts to paint as the worst president, created far more jobs than Bush I and Bush II combined. Also note that Ronald Reagan, the originator of the "tax cuts create jobs" mantra, had a much worse job creation rating than Bill Clinton, who raised taxes, cut spending, and left office with a budget surplus. I have reproduced the most important data below:
